Steps to Attend Commencement

  • Step 1: Determine Eligibility

    Determine Eligibility

    Graduates with the following degrees may attend any ceremony after their final term ends:

    • Doctoral (Law & Nursing)
    • Master's
    • Bachelor's
    • Associate
    • Certificate

    Graduates of the Doctor of Education and Doctor of Health Sciences:

    • Graduating Jan 1–June 30: Attend October ceremony
    • Graduating July 1–Dec 31: Attend May ceremony
    • Final approval of your applied research project is required to officially graduate and participate in the ceremony listed above (or a future one).

    Reminder: Update Your Contact Info. Log in to PG Campus or call 844-PURDUE-G to ensure you receive graduation emails and texts.

  • Step 2: Register

    Register for Your Ceremony

    • Registration Link: Located on the Ceremony Details page.
    • Headshot Upload: Grad-only photo in business casual or regalia. Plain white/light background. No logos or trademarks. Suitable for academic audiences. [View Instructions]
    • Emails: Confirmation is sent after registering; ceremony details are sent after registration closes.

Academic Honors Eligibility

Academic Honors Statuses

Academic honors statuses will be noted on diplomas and transcripts.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.70–3.79: Cum Laude
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.80–3.99: Magna Cum Laude
  • Cumulative GPA of 4.0: Summa Cum Laude
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.00–3.29: With Honors (Purdue Global Law School)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.30–4.00: With Highest Honors (Purdue Global Law School)

GPA Recognition Cords (optional): Purchase with regalia through Herff Jones (View GPA cord eligibility)

Ceremony Participants: Academic honors recognized at the ceremony are based on the candidate’s cumulative GPA as of the ceremony registration deadline date, and therefore may not be final.

NOTES AND CONDITIONS

Commencement: Commencement times will be determined after the participation deadline. Participants and attendees assume all financial and health risks associated with attending commencement and must abide by all guidelines as required by the University, venue, and government. Commencement may be canceled or changed to a virtual experience due to government mandates or advisories regarding public health or safety, and the University will not be responsible for any incurred costs or expenses as a result.

Commencement Participation: Participation in commencement is not a verification of graduation. Candidates receive their diploma approximately 8 weeks after completion of their final class and once all program requirements have been confirmed by University officials.

The Purdue Global Commencement and related events could be broadcast live online and all attendees' student directory information, military branch (if applicable), videos, and photos shown during the ceremony could be photographed, videotaped, or filmed by authorized parties. The registration of all participants, submission of photos/videos, and attendance at or participation in the graduation-related events serve as permission for use of these names, images, and posts by Purdue Global. Commercial photography or filming is prohibited without permission of Purdue Global.
