About Purdue University Global
Innovative Education for Working Adults
Building on Purdue's mission to provide greater access to affordable, high-quality education, Purdue University Global is a public, nonprofit institution that offers a world-class education online.
We are dedicated to adult students who need flexibility to fit learning into their busy lives, making it possible to achieve a degree from a school within the respected Purdue University system—from anywhere in the world. Our innovative approach to teaching and modern curriculum give you the skills you need to make an immediate impact on your career and the edge to compete in this fast-changing world economy.
We understand that working adults approach learning differently than traditional college-aged students. You have years of experience and knowledge. You know how you want to learn and have a clear vision of what you want to achieve. You also have real responsibilities and need meaningful skills that will help you get ahead.
Our mission is simple. Purdue University Global delivers personalized online education tailored to the unique needs of adults who have work or life experience beyond the classroom, enabling them to develop essential academic and professional skills with the support and flexibility they need to achieve their career goals.
Purdue Global is Part of the Renowned Purdue University System
Purdue West Lafayette was founded in 1869 as Indiana’s land-grant institution. The Purdue University system serves students through its flagship campus in West Lafayette, a network of regional campuses and technology centers across Indiana, and now Purdue Global, which can be accessed online at any time.
Purdue's main campus in West Lafayette is one of the most prestigious research universities in the world. It routinely ranks highly in accredited national and world university rankings like the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education for its distinguished academic programs.* These rankings demonstrate Purdue’s commitment to providing higher education at the highest proven value.
In April 2017, Purdue reinforced its status as one of the world's most innovative universities by announcing it would acquire Kaplan University, a longtime leader in online adult education, and create a new, public institution—which is now Purdue Global.
The Purdue Boilermakers have a long history of athletic achievement and are another proud part of the University’s tradition. Today, Purdue competes in the Big Ten Conference—the preeminent collection of institutions in the nation—and fields 18 intercollegiate athletics teams, including football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, wrestling, swimming and diving, track and field, golf, and tennis. Purdue Fort Wayne competes in Division I athletics as the Mastodons and Purdue Northwest competes in Division II as the Pride.
