Internships can be a valuable strategy to learn more about your career path, whether you are just entering the workforce or changing careers.
The information technology (IT) internship program has been designed to provide you valuable career experience while building credentials within your field. Internships are a great way to gain confidence in your field and add experience to your resume!
Internships can help you explore career paths, whether you are an industry veteran learning new skills, a career changer, or entering the workforce without prior experience. You'll have the opportunity to develop hands-on experience while applying all the techniques and strategies learned during your classes. This experience can help you compete in the IT industry and create opportunities for professional networking.
The School of Business and Information Technology has created a program for either regional (local) internships or virtual internships. If you are focused on creating connections with local companies and would like to get your foot in the door, discussing an internship with the human resources department is a great first step.
The first step is to let the Internship Department know you are interested in participating. Internship classes are taken as an elective and are available for qualifying students in all associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs.
Virtual Internships
If you are interested in gaining authentic experience in your industry, but have little time for additional commuting, a virtual internship may be the best fit for you.
Virtual internships allow you to participate from your computer anywhere with internet access. Not all positions are a great fit for a virtual internship, but they are a consideration for some roles and responsibilities.
