Purdue Global graduates can choose to attend an in-person or virtual ceremony. View ceremony eligibility.
Virtual ceremonies are online only, with no in-person attendance.
Diplomas are not given at the ceremony.

Steps to Attend Commencement
Determine Eligibility
Graduates with the following degrees may attend any ceremony after their final term ends and all program requirements have been fulfilled:
- Doctoral (Law & Nursing)
- Master's
- Bachelor's
- Associate
- Certificate
Graduates of the Doctor of Education and Doctor of Health Sciences:
- Graduating Jan 1–June 30: Attend October ceremony
- Graduating July 1–Dec 31: Attend May ceremony
- Final approval of your applied research project is required to officially graduate and participate in the ceremony listed above (or a future one).
Reminder: Update your contact info in PG Campus or call 844-PURDUE-G to receive graduation emails and texts. Please use a personal email address.
Register for Your Ceremony
- Registration Link: Found on the Ceremony Information page. Information is updated about one month before registration opens. Earlier content may reflect a past ceremony.
- Headshot Upload: Grad-only photo in business professional attire or regalia. Light-colored, uncluttered background. No logos or trademarks. Suitable for academic audiences. [View Instructions]
Emails: Confirmation is sent after registering; ceremony details are sent after registration closes.

Academic Honors
Academic honors are awarded based on cumulative GPA and apply only to juris doctor, executive juris doctor, bachelor’s and associate degree programs. Academic honors are listed on diplomas and transcripts.
Juris Doctor and Executive Juris Doctor Honors
- With Highest Honors: CGPA 3.30–4.00
- With Honors: CGPA 3.00–3.29
Bachelor’s and Associate Degree Honors
- Summa Cum Laude: CGPA 4.0
- Magna Cum Laude: CGPA 3.80–3.99
- Cum Laude: CGPA 3.70–3.79

Ceremonial GPA Recognition Cords
Eligible graduates may purchase GPA recognition cords with regalia through Herff Jones.
- Law Programs (CGPA 3.0+): White & Gold cord
- Doctoral (Non-Law) and Master’s Programs (CGPA 3.9–4.0): White & Gold cord*
- Summa Cum Laude: Gold cord
- Magna Cum Laude: Silver cord
- Cum Laude: White cord
Ceremonial GPA recognition is based on cumulative GPA as of the ceremony registration deadline and may not be final.
* Master’s and non-law doctoral recognition is ceremonial only and is not considered academic honors or listed on diplomas or transcripts.
Honor Societies
Honor society organizations are by invitation only. Visit the Student Organizations page to find information for each honor society.
Ceremony Attire: Cap, Gown, GPA Cord
- Regalia: Graduates must order their own cap and gown (required for in-person only)
