SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Representatives from Purdue University and Purdue Global recently visited the Defense Health Agency's (DHA) Medical Education Training Campus (METC) in San Antonio, Texas, as a part of the METC Degree Bridge Program. The Degree Bridge Program provides opportunities for METC graduates to further their education through degree pathway programs and affiliations with several colleges and universities throughout the country, including Purdue Global.

Two Purdue Global delegates meet with a man in military uniform in a METC facility. In the background are medical bays with students in military uniform attending to mannequin patients on beds.

During this visit, university leaders were provided a comprehensive brief on METC's mission, toured state-of-the-art facilities, observed training sessions, and engaged in discussions with METC instructors and senior staff, gaining insights into the innovative medical training programs taking place.

Kelvin Gumbs, executive director of Educational Partnerships, said, “It was humbling to witness firsthand the incredible training taking place and the unmatched professionalism of the METC instructors.  Supporting the Degree Bridge Program and serving METC graduates is a top priority for Purdue Global.”

The University delegation included faculty, members of the Purdue Global Registrar’s Office and the Office of Industry Partnerships, and members of the Military Advisory Board, retired Master Chief April Beldo and retired Vice Admiral Kendall Card.

Ron Maggitt, senior articulation analyst in Purdue Global’s Center for Prior Learning Recognition, said, “The visit truly reinforces the quality of instruction, commitment and vast depths of knowledge found at METC and in turn it reaffirms our commitment to this partnership.”
