WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — For Stefan May, what started as a desire to learn more about the law and help people who couldn’t help themselves turned into something much bigger than he ever imagined.
“I had this desire to stand up for people who are not able to do it for themselves and to speak for those who do not have a voice,” May said.
May is one of six Purdue Global Law School graduates who passed the February 2026 bar exam. He was admitted to the Indiana bar during a May 12 ceremony at The Payne & Mencias Palladium at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana. The law school’s graduates achieved a 75% overall success rate on the exam — 83.3% for first-time takers like May.
May, who has been serving as a law clerk for Robbins and Seville LLC in Crown Point, Indiana, says his success is already paying off.
“Upon being admitted to the bar, I am being promoted to an associate attorney at the law office,” he said.

A flexible path forward
May, who lives in northwest Indiana, became interested in pursuing law school as an adult but faced logistical challenges. There were no brick-and-mortar law schools within a reasonable driving distance, and as a husband and father who was working full time, he could not relocate.
That’s when he discovered Purdue Global Law School.
“Without Purdue Global Law School and its flexible, online setting, I would not have been able to attend law school at all,” May said. “The closest physical law school was approximately two hours away. Here, I was able to work full time to support my wife, and now two children, while attending school.”
Martin Pritikin, dean and vice president of Purdue Global Law School, says the Indiana bar exam scores serve as validation that Purdue Global Law School’s fully online formula is successful.
“Since our graduates first started taking the Indiana bar exam in February 2025, a higher percentage of both first-time and repeat takers has passed than the average for American Bar Association graduates,” Pritikin said.
Pritikin said Purdue Global Law School has seen a 900% increase in enrollment for Indiana-based students in the last two years, partly thanks to a July 2024 ruling by the Indiana Supreme Court that created a path for its graduates to become eligible for the state’s bar exam.
For May, this access was the opportunity he needed to help his family and others.
“I look forward to focusing on helping people in my area and being able to take care of my family,” he said. “This would not have been possible if it weren’t for Purdue Global Law School.”
