Opportunities, hands-on experience propel Purdue Global Law School graduate to Indiana bar, career advancement

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — For 2025 Purdue Global Law School graduate Lauren Mollon, the path to a legal career was built on real-world experience.

Mollon, who works remotely from Lansing, Michigan, for Massachusetts-based semiconductor company MKS Inc., credits hands-on experiences gained at Purdue Global Law School for leading to a promotion to staff counsel at the company after she successfully passed the February 2026 Indiana bar exam.

One of the opportunities Mollon attributes to her swift career advancement is Purdue Global’s Legal Experience Education Program (LEEP). Mollon initially worked in supply chain management, but a corporate law externship through LEEP allowed her to transition into her company’s legal department before graduation.

“Purdue Global Law School’s Legal Experience Education Program was invaluable to me,” Mollon said. “Through hands-on experience in both corporate and judicial settings, I was able to put myself in a position for another promotion after passing the bar.”

Mollon gained further practical insight during a second externship with Judge Sean Persin at the Tippecanoe County Circuit Court in Lafayette, Indiana, where she worked on civil and criminal cases. Because corporate in-house counsel can practice with a license from any state, Mollon chose to sit for the Indiana bar due to her strong ties to the local court.

Mollon is one of six Purdue Global Law School graduates who passed the February 2026 Indiana bar exam. The law school’s graduates achieved a 75% overall success rate on the exam — 83.3% for first-time takers like Mollon.

On June 8, Persin officially swore Mollon into the Indiana bar during a ceremony attended by her parents. The judge’s remarks on upholding the rule of law and leveling the playing field deeply resonated with her.

“He’s been such a great mentor and is committed to making the next generation of Boilermakers conscientious about public service and giving back to the community,” Mollon said.

Inspired by his message, Mollon immediately signed up to volunteer with the Michigan Advocacy Program — an organization that provides access to the justice system — and is seeking similar pro bono opportunities in Indiana.

Having also earned her MBA from Purdue Global in 2020, Mollon credits the university for her dual professional milestones. “Purdue Global has provided me with a great education and allowed me to grow my career,” she said.
