Celebrating Nurses Week: Impact, self-care, AI and technology
National Nurses Week, which runs from May 6-12, serves as an important time to celebrate the impact nurses have on patients, families and communities. It’s a reminder to recognize the expertise, resilience and enormous impact of nurses, which is often done quietly behind the scenes.
In this video, Marlo Robinson, dean and vice president of Purdue Global’s School of Nursing, emphasizes the importance of honoring nurses while encouraging them to focus on their own self-care and well-being. Robinson discusses this year’s theme, “The Power of Nurses,” underscoring the influence nurses have in elevating health care systems and comforting patients in their most vulnerable moments.
Robinson also talks about how technology and the integration of artificial intelligence is shaping the landscape of nursing. Robinson says while tools like telehealth, remote monitoring and AI enhance efficiency and patient outcomes and can be a powerful partner, they cannot replace the human judgment and human connection that nurses provide.
