Andrea Fuller-Williams

Master of Science in Nursing, 2015

Over 20 years ago, Andrea Fuller-Williams earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York. She always wanted to earn her master’s degree, but as a single mom, she decided to put her education on hold to raise her son.

Once her son had completed school and gotten married, Andrea wanted to keep a promise she had made to herself that she would go back to school.

“This is a time when I need to put both the academic with the practical,” Andrea said.

She kept her promise.

Andrea enrolled in Kaplan University (now Purdue Global) in 2013 feeling confident that she chose the right school to further her education.

“I had a good feeling from the beginning. The first person that spoke to me was quite welcoming, and so I thought I just didn't need to go too much further.”

During her time at the University, Andrea specifically remembers her experiences with her professors, who were patient and listened, yet were also tough. She frequently interacted with her advisors as well. “Whenever I called they were quite great. Because I was not, when I started, computer savvy. So I had to call many times with questions, ‘How do I do this?’ and I was directed accordingly,” she admits.

Andrea graduated from Kaplan University (now Purdue Global) in August of 2015 with a master’s degree in nursing administration.

Since her graduation, Andrea was promoted to director of nursing in the intake department for a home- care agency, which provides services for members in their homes.

She didn’t always think she would reach this level in her career. Andrea said, “That was always my goal, my motto. You can do it. I probably didn’t think it would have been director. I thought just a manager.”

Andrea’s advice to others who put their education on hold is, "You are never too old to go back to school. If you never met your dreams when you were younger, you should still continue to aspire for that dream. Purdue Global is the school to choose for that dream."

Purdue Global cannot guarantee employment or career advancement.
