Laura Kay Wood
Laura Wood joined Purdue Global (formerly Kaplan University) as a full-time faculty member in the School of Nursing in 2010. Her responsibilities include course lead for courses MN 502: Theoretical Foundations of Advanced Nursing, MN 507: Promoting Optimal Models and Systems for Health Care Delivery, and MN 509: Curriculum Design. She is responsible for organizing graduate level peer reviews, is a subject matter expert for the nurse educator track responsible for course revisions, and currently serves on the school-wide faculty scholarship committee. She also served on the university-wide library committee.
Prior to joining Purdue Global, Laura Wood held roles as a wellness coordinator, court advocate, and pediatric nurse and is currently chairing the awards and scholarship committee of STTI Phi Rho chapter and works as a nurse consultant. Her most recent publication is “Using a Telephone Call to Increase Social Presence in Online Classes” and is pursuing research on nurse practitioner transition to an online academic environment.
Laura Wood is a certified nurse care manager through the American Board of Managed Care Nursing and is licensed in the states of Illinois and Iowa. She received a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in nursing education and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue Global. She has an Associate of Applied Science and Associate of Science in Nursing from Prairie State College.
