Dr. Kimberly Perkins

Dr. Kimberly Perkins is a faculty member for the health care administration programs. She is a lifelong learner and advocate for empowering others to succeed. The School of Health Sciences awarded Dr. Perkins with the Outstanding Faculty Award for 2015 and the 2014 Outstanding Course Lead Award.

Dr. Perkins began her career in health care administration by first living as an undercover nursing home resident for 48 consecutive hours and then writing about her experience. She continued working in health care administration in various roles throughout the United States including assistant director of health care services, nursing home administrator, development coordinator, executive director, and most recently, chief executive officer of a rural health care system. Dr. Perkins is an avid volunteer in her community and an advocate for local economic development.

Dr. Perkins holds a Doctorate in Health Care Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Education with a specialization in instructional technology from American Intercontinental University, and a Bachelor of Science in Geography with a specialization in geographical information systems and a minor in music from Fayetteville State University. She is also acknowledged by the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill for completing her certificate in long-term care.
