Jerry L. Taylor

Jerry L. Taylor is an accomplished expert in the world of finance. He has been a chief financial officer, president of a captive finance company, director of finance, assistant treasurer, director of international treasury, planning manager, merger and acquisition manager (he has led or participated in 16 acquisitions ranging from $32 million to $1.5 billion), and has held several other positions over the last 30 years for companies such as International Paper, United Technologies, Harris Corporation, and the Tecom Group.

He is and has been a school board president, Cub Scout leader, Eucharistic minister, and church finance committee member. He finds these roles to all be very important parts of his labor.

Teaching has always been his primary avocation. Since 1981, Mr. Taylor has taught various business courses at City University of New York, Memphis University, the Hartford Graduate Center, University of Phoenix, and the Florida Institute of Technology. His love of teaching has also been passed on, as his son is a professor teaching economics at the University of Central Michigan.

Mr. Taylor believes education is the cure for most of what ails us. He is married and has two sons and two grandchildren.

“Mr. Taylor is a full-time faculty member in the School of Business and Information Technology. He was awarded a doctorate by the Russian Ministry of Education from the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. He received the honor after spending several years visiting, lecturing, and leading an effort to establish a new 5-year degree program in telecommunication engineering that includes English as a core series of courses. He secured $1.5 million in equipment and currency to build a western standard Engineering Center on the campus of the University. It includes modern digital telephone switches, microwave radios, Sun computers, communications testing equipment, and many other technical items for training.”
