BS - Jan Roy

Jan Roy, PhD, CMP

Dr. Jan Roy is a full-time professor in the School of Business and Information Technology. She started at Purdue Global (former Kaplan University) as an adjunct faculty member in February 2009, and was promoted to full-time faculty member and course lead for the hospitality and event planning specializations in August 2009.

Jan was selected for the Outstanding Course Lead Award in 2015.

Prior to earning a PhD in business, Jan held senior management positions in lodging operations and tourism. She is a certified meeting professional (CMP) and has over 25 years of experience in marketing, tourism, and convention management at leading hospitality organizations in Chicago. She is active on the convention industry council (CIC), serving on their education committee and speaking regularly at their conferences and events.

Dr. Roy serves on the Central Federation Board of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, Institutional Education (ICHRIE). She is active on committees, has served as a session moderator and workshop leader, and had a poster session at the annual conference. She is a peer reviewer for the Johnson and Wales Case Studies for the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education.
