Dr. Cuneyt Altinoz

Dr. Altinoz received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1994. He then completed his Master of Business Administration at Georgia Institute of Technology. Before continuing on to his doctorate, he worked for IBM in Atlanta as an operations analyst. He then consulted with Ciba Geigy (now Novartis), as well as completing projects with Siemens and Oxford University Press.

Dr. Altinoz started to pursue his PhD at North Carolina State University (NCSU) College of Textiles, the premier textiles school in the world. His work focused on supply chain management in the textile industry. His research work was funded by the National Textiles Center and included projects for DuPont. He wrote several decision analysis software packages, one of which merited a patent application by NCSU for the methodology of using natural language to describe a fuzzy constraint based expert system. To pursue the development of the system, Dr. Altinoz participated in a 2-year postdoc effort before joining the operations management faculty at East Carolina University (ECU) in 2003. At ECU, he led the effort to create a supply chain management program. Dr. Altinoz has been teaching in online institutions since 2008.

Dr. Altinoz’s research interests include supply chain management, effective application of decision methodologies to practical situations, and creating mathematical models for economic analysis. He has been on the editorial board of International Journal of Integrated Supply Management since 2008.
