Purdue University Global’s School of Health Sciences is committed to educating students to become skilled, compassionate professionals who are vital to the delivery of quality health care and helping others lead healthier lives. Whether a student’s interest is in a clinical profession, such as medical assisting; health care administration/health informatics and information management; or public health/health education, the School of Health Sciences’ career-focused programs are designed to prepare graduates to become tomorrow’s health leaders, instilling critical thinking skills to help them succeed in a constantly evolving health care environment.

Health Sciences Programs

Purdue Global’s School of Health Sciences offers 12 programs. These include bachelor’s degree programs in health and wellness, health care administration, health information management, health science, and nutrition. The School also offers master’s degree programs in health care administration, health informatics, health information management, public health, and health education. Additionally, the School offers four certificate programs in medical billing/coding, medical office administration, health care quality and patient safety, and medical assisting.

Degrees Conferred

The School of Health Sciences conferred more than 2,900 degrees, certificates, and diplomas in the 2018–2019 academic year.

Accreditation and Approvals

American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
The Medical Billing and Coding Certificate program is approved by the AHIMA Professional Certificate Approval Program (PCAP).

Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
The Cedar Rapids and Davenport, Iowa; Lewiston, Maine (with an additional location in Augusta); and Lincoln, Nebraska, locations voluntarily withdrew accreditation for the certificate program in August 2018. The Des Moines, Iowa, location voluntarily withdrew accreditation for the certificate program in August 2019. All students enrolled in the certificate program at the above locations prior to voluntary accreditation withdrawal will graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited program.

Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM)
The Health Information Management (HIM) bachelor program is in candidacy status, pending accreditation review by CAHIIM.

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)
Purdue Global, which offers the Master of Health Informatics and Master of Health Information Management programs, is recognized by HIMSS as an Approved Education Partner (AEP). As a HIMSS AEP, Purdue Global has met HIMSS’s rigorous standards for delivering world-class, effective health care and health IT education. HIMSS-approved educational programs provide advanced knowledge in health information and technology or health care and prepare candidates to sit for the CAHIMS or CPHIMS exam.

National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP)
The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition is a NANP recommended educational program.
