Concord Law School

In Brief

For many working adults who are interested in learning and practicing the law, attending a brick-and-mortar traditional law school is simply out of reach due to geography, cost, scheduling, or other factors.

Enter Concord Law School at Purdue University Global (Concord), whose mission is making high-quality legal education affordable and accessible. Established in 1998, Concord was the first law school in the United States to make it possible for busy professionals to earn a traditional legal education online. Since then, Concord has educated over 2,200 practicing attorneys and career professionals with effective, engaging, and innovative learning. Part of regionally accredited (HLC) Purdue Global, Concord is registered as a Distance Learning Law School with the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California.

Degree Offerings

Juris Doctor (JD) Degree

4-year program (92 credit hours), part time

Concord’s JD degree program focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary to be an effective member of the legal profession. Graduates must meet the legal education requirement of the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. After meeting regulatory requirements, including passing the First-Year Law Students’ Exam and the California Bar Exam, graduates may apply for admission to the State Bar of California. JD program graduates do not qualify to take the bar exam or be admitted to practice law in jurisdictions outside of California without additional experience, education, or petition.

Executive Juris Doctor (EJD) Degree

3-year program (72 credit hours), part time

For working professionals whose goal is adding legal expertise to further their career opportunities in their present job or in a new field, Concord offers the EJD. This unique program provides in-depth legal expertise to further career goals without the hurdles necessary to become a bar member. First year EJD students take foundational courses that are also included in the JD program. During the second and third years, EJD students structure their program to fit their individual career objectives.

Among Concord’s alumni are successful professionals hailing from across the country and working in many industries. Concord has produced over 1,400 JD graduates—including more than 550 traditional California bar licensed attorneys—and over 800 EJD graduates. Alumni are prepared to leverage their legal expertise to make a bigger impact as executives or advocates within health care, insurance, cybersecurity, education, finance, and many other professions.
